Two more busy weekends...part 1

So I told everyone we were going to be having some fun in September.  Well, we've had 2 weekends packed full!  The weekend of September 17th was incredibly busy, but oh so much fun!

Friday the kids knew something was up, but they had no clue.  When I woke them that morning for school, I told them to place their game boy, pillow, and blanket outside in the hallway for later.  All morning all I heard is where are we going, tell me, tell me, please.  But, I managed to keep it a secret and send them off for a day of wondering at school.  What they didn't know was, Robert and I had packed the car with sleeping bags, the air mattress etc for a special treat.

When Robert got home from work, we were all ready to go.  A few stops for gas, drinks, and snacks, and we were on our way!  Where were we going you ask?  To Jenks, OK!  The Oklahoma Aquarium was our destination, for a sleepover!  The kids had no clue, but after a hour and a half we pulled into the parking lot and then they got all excited.  The first question we got was do we really get to sleep here?  Yes, you sure do.

The night was spent spending time as a family. Touch tanks were open, which the kids loved! We got to see the aquarium not only in their lighting, but in the evening we got to see it by flashlight, and watch a movie. I think we went to bed around 11:30 or 12:00, but we had a good time.

Then on Sunday we did the OK State Fair and Disney on Ice.  This is the second year we've done Disney on Ice and I have to say, They know how to bring Disney to you!  It was a wonderful show, but I think the best part of things, as always was seeing the happy faces on my children!  Here are a few, very few, of the pictures I took.

Will post more about another BIG weekend soon.

Bye bye summer :(

Well, while fall doesn't begin for 3 more weeks, the unofficial end of summer came this weekend :(  My kids have been back in school since mid August, but Labor Day was this past weekend.  The bad news for us is fall puts us in another frame of mind this year.  We have to prepare ourselves for our first deployment in 5 years!  We've loved having Robert home with us, but know that due to the career choices we made and the start of our world, this was inevitable :(  Does that make it easier to deal with...not in the least, but we have to and will get through this.  If God brings us to it, He WILL bring us through it.  I suppose that will be my mind set going through this again.

See, I'm not so worried about me this time...I know it will be hard for me.  I never do well with deployments at all, but this time I almost have a feeling of peace for myself.  Do you want to know what I'm worried about?  My kids!  You see, last time he left Michael and Patrick were only 2.5 years old and Kaitlyn well she was only 4 months old, but this time they are 7 and 4.  I know I have to be strong for them!  I have to take on the role of two parents for the time, I have to be the taxi, cook, and maid.  I have to take them to their activities, make sure they are rested, fed, and clothed.  I also have to make sure they know everyday, that Daddy loves them and is doing this for our freedom.

So, this next month will be a very busy one for us!  We have tons of fun things planned to do as we get ready to say goodbye to Daddy for a while, so how did we spend Labor Day you ask??  We went to Turner Falls in Davis for the day!  The kids had a blast and got to go swimming for the last day of summer.

We left our house with some friends at about 9:30am, did a few last minute things around town and were on the highway around 10am. After about an 1.5 hours, we made it to Turner Falls Park. We ate our picnic lunch.

After lunch we head down for some swimming!  We didn't go to the Falls area as the kids were have too much fun in the pools.  The boys loved the diving board and slide once I decided to let them go.  Yes, I was a little concerned since I couldn't see the bottom of the whole thing.  Over all we had lots of fun!  The kids are already asking when we can go again, LOL.  Here are a few more pictures too enjoy!!

Stay tuned for more fun adventures with the Baker's later this month!
